4 Heritage-Inspired Easter Jeep Safari Concepts Revealed

Four unique Jeep concept vehicles elevate the off-roading experience to new heights

The 58th annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah is just around the corner, and Jeep is gearing up to make a grand entrance with four incredible concept vehicles. This event is a haven for Jeep enthusiasts, drawing in over 20,000 people each year to celebrate the legendary 4x4 brand.

Bill Peffer, the senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America, expressed his excitement about the event, stating, "From 4xe electrification to unmatched 392 power, this year's Jeep 4x4 concepts showcase the incredible versatility of the most capable Wrangler ever."

These four concept vehicles, created by Jeep and Jeep Performance Parts, come equipped with top-notch propulsion systems. The Jeep Wrangler Low Down concept pays homage to the iconic Lower 40 concept from 2009 and boasts the powerful 392 V-8 engine. On the other hand, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys Dispatcher concept combines the advanced 4xe plug-in hybrid system with a nostalgic design inspired by early post-war civilian Jeep SUVs. Additionally, the JPP concepts, namely the Jeep Gladiator-based High Top concept and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer-based Vacationeer concept, feature the impressive six-cylinder power, with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and a Hurricane Twin Turbo 510, respectively.

Mike Koval Jr, the North America senior vice president of Mopar service, parts, and customer care, expressed his team's eagerness to return to Moab for the Easter Jeep Safari. He mentioned, "We can't wait to unveil our latest set of concept vehicles, equipped with our cutting-edge custom and factory-tested production parts and accessories. These will enable us to conquer some of the most challenging trails in the world."

Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the 2024 Easter Jeep Safari, where these remarkable concept vehicles will take center stage.

Jeep Low Down Concept

Back in the day, the Jeep design team amazed everyone at the 43rd annual Easter Jeep Safari with their incredible creation, the Jeep Wrangler Lower 40. This beast of a vehicle had massive 40-inch mud-terrain tires and a powerful 5.7-liter V-8 engine. Even after fifteen years, the Lower 40 still captivates the crowd and remains a fan favorite at the EJS.

Now, the new Low Down concept pays tribute to the iconic Lower 40. With some clever modifications, this Jeep Wrangler concept manages to fit enormous 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler mud-terrain tires on 20-inch beadlock wheels. The custom high-clearance carbon fender flares and upgraded Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gears further enhance its off-road capabilities. The Low Down's center of gravity remains low, while its ground clearance and approach angles get a significant boost.

The body of the Low Down is coated in a striking Poison Apple Red paint. To streamline its appearance, the rear door handles are removed, and a custom carbon hood with a see-through power dome is added. The driver-side rear quarter panel features a unique race-style fuel filler door. Inside, you'll find custom black leather seats with cloth inserts, Rhino-lined floors, and a radio-delete instrument panel. And let's not forget the purpose-built red-tinted bikini top that casts a warm red glow on the interior.

Just like its predecessor, the Lower 40, the Jeep Low Down is powered by a V-8 engine. However, this modern interpretation boasts a formidable 475-horsepower 6.4-liter 392 V-8 engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It's a true powerhouse on and off the road.

Jeep Willys Dispatcher Concept

Experience the perfect blend of the past and the future with the Jeep Willys Dispatcher. This concept vehicle takes inspiration from the iconic post-war civilian Jeep, while incorporating the cutting-edge technology of the Wrangler 4xe.

Starting with its exterior, the Willys Dispatcher undergoes a retro transformation from top to bottom. Vintage-style 16-by-7-inch alloy "steelies" wrapped in Super Traxion 36-inch tires give it a classic look. The front bumper features a brand-new, old-school 8274 Warn winch, complete with a Warn Epic Series winch hook and D rings. The hood proudly displays embossed WILLYS lettering, reminiscent of the beloved flat-fender Jeeps. The windshield header is coated in sleek gloss black, while the rest of the exterior is painted in a stunning custom shade called Element 115 Green, beautifully complemented by the cream-colored steelies.

Step inside the Dispatcher and you'll find a custom retrim that combines distressed saddle leather and houndstooth cloth inserts. The seats have been designed with a low-back vintage feel, reminiscent of the good old days. A JPP bikini top ensures that passengers stay protected from the elements, whether it's rain or shine. And for those off-road adventures, the Dispatcher is equipped with rugged JPP vinyl covering for the floor, keeping it safe from water, mud, and other debris. Plus, the JPP onboard air compressor comes in handy for managing tire pressures on the trail.

Powering the Willys Dispatcher is the impressive 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid 4xe propulsion system, which has earned numerous accolades. With 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, this system delivers exceptional performance. The power and torque effortlessly transfer to the Super Traxion tires through the Dana 50 Advantech front and rear axles with 4.70 gears.

The Jeep Willys Dispatcher truly embodies the spirit of adventure, combining the timeless charm of the past with the innovation of the future. Get ready to hit the road and explore with confidence and style.

Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top Concept

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept showcases the innovative spirit of the JPP design and engineering teams from Mopar, who are constantly pushing the boundaries of performance for the world's most off-road capable midsize truck during the annual Moab trek.

Sporting a striking Ginger Snap metallic exterior with retro-inspired two-tone graphics, the Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept stands out from the crowd. It sits tall on massive 40x13.5R18 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires mounted on 18-by-9-inch Satin Black KMC Grenade Crawl beadlock wheels.

Equipped with Concept JPP flat fender flares at all four corners, this beast offers ample off-road ride clearance. The Dana 60 front and rear axles with 5.38:1 gearing, along with an AccuAir adjustable air suspension, ensure that tackling serious off-road terrain is a breeze. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission delivers power where it's needed most.

On the exterior, a modified front bumper from American Expedition Vehicles houses a custom protective hoop above a Warn winch. Rock rail power steps from Rock Slide Engineering safeguard the undercarriage and provide easy access to the cabin.

Inside, the seats have been reupholstered with custom quilted and perforated tan and black Alea leather, featuring an embossed JPP logo on the headrests. Additional interior features include a JPP sun bonnet for overhead protection, a JPP pedal kit, all-weather floor mats, and door sill guards. The DECKED truck bed storage system offers lockable cargo space with dual sliding drawers, while still allowing for storage on top in the bed area.

Jeep Vacationeer Concept

Embark on the ultimate adventure with the Jeep Vacationeer concept. This premium SUV combines comfort and modern capability while paying homage to the iconic Jeep brand. From its sleek Spearminted exterior to the expanded interior space, every detail has been carefully crafted.

For those seeking off-road thrills, the Vacationeer is equipped with 35-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires and 18-by-9-inch bead grip 701 Method racing wheels. With a natural 1.5-inch lift, this SUV is ready to conquer any challenging excursion in Moab. The larger wheel openings and custom bodyside flare extensions add to its aggressive look.

Safety and protection are paramount, which is why the Vacationeer features front and rear skid plates and a front mounted Warn winch. No matter the off-road situation, this SUV is prepared to handle it with ease. Additionally, three 11-inch TYRI LED lights on the roof provide exceptional forward lighting, ensuring clear visibility in any condition.

But the Vacationeer doesn't just excel in performance, it also offers a luxurious touch. Affixed to the roof is the custom carbon-fiber RedTail Overland Skyloft. This climate-controlled oasis provides sleeping space for two people and offers breathtaking panoramic views through its numerous windows. To access the Skyloft, a custom weatherproof pass-thru entrance and a fore/aft sliding door make it convenient and easy.

To maximize cargo space, the stock second- and third-row seats have been removed. In their place, you'll find a bed-lined cargo floor that can handle any outdoor elements. Whether you need to escape a sudden downpour or store muddy hiking gear, the Vacationeer has got you covered.

The rear space is equipped with a durable cargo floor that can handle any outdoor challenge, whether it's escaping a sudden rainstorm or getting rid of muddy hiking gear.

The Jeep brand collaborated with renowned fashion designer and devoted Wagoneer owner, Kiel James Patrick, to create the luxurious Tupelo leather seats for the front. Patrick, hailing from New England, showcases his deep admiration for authentic Americana by incorporating custom fabric inserts featuring iconic Jeep vehicles in a charming New England-inspired pattern.

Patrick expressed his profound connection to the Jeep Wagoneer, stating, "For over three decades, the Jeep Wagoneer has been more than just a vehicle to me; it has been an integral part of my life, woven into the fabric of my most cherished journeys. As a designer and lifelong Jeep 4x4 owner, this project is a dream come true. I am thrilled to pay homage to the heritage and stories of the Jeep brand."

Under the hood, the Jeep Vacationeer concept boasts the mighty 3.0-liter Hurricane Twin Turbo 510 engine, delivering an impressive 510 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. This powerful Hurricane engine not only offers exceptional performance but also provides better fuel efficiency compared to many competitors' naturally aspirated V-8 and boosted six-cylinder engines.
