Mustang RTR Unveils Exciting New High-Performance Option for EcoBoost Enthusiasts
The new Mustang RTR promises to be the most exciting enthusiast-focused turbocharged Mustang ever

Ford has unveiled an exhilarating glimpse of the latest Mustang performance model, set to make its debut at the 2025 Detroit Auto Show. The spotlight shines on the new Mustang RTR, showcased in a thrilling demonstration by none other than Mustang legend, two-time drift champion, and RTR Vehicles President and Founder, Vaughn Gittin, Jr. This latest iteration is hailed as the most exhilarating turbocharged Mustang designed for enthusiasts yet.
Leveraging the RTR team's extensive experience from multiple Formula Drift championships and their collaboration on performance parts with the Mustang Dark Horse, this model is a testament to the 18-year partnership between Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Ford. The Mustang RTR offers a fresh and electrifying alternative to the Mustang GT Performance Package, Mustang Dark Horse, and Mustang GTD. It introduces a bold new aesthetic and enhanced driving dynamics to the Mustang EcoBoost, as evidenced by the eye-catching Hyper Lime Brembo brake calipers and striking pedestal spoiler on the demonstration vehicle.

Notably, the Mustang RTR marks only the second occasion in the storied history of the Mustang that Ford has introduced a performance model developed in collaboration with an external partner, available directly from the factory.
The Mustang lineup is more thrilling than ever, featuring the Mustang GTD, Mustang Dark Horse, and the all-new Mustang RTR, catering to every enthusiast's desires, according to Jim Baumbick, Ford's vice president of Product Development. "The RTR team brings unmatched passion and expertise both on and off the track, allowing us to collaborate on crafting the most exhilarating EcoBoost Mustang aimed at true car lovers."

Ford and RTR have teamed up on numerous motorsport initiatives and showcase vehicles, with RTR playing a key role in developing the Mustang's unique drift brake, now available in the seventh-generation Mustang Performance Packages. This innovation enhances the Mustang's track performance, offering options for drivers eager to burn rubber and master reverse entry cornering.
The electronic drift brake seamlessly combines the rear-wheel-drive drifting prowess of the Mustang with the sleek design and practicality of a traditional hand brake.

"I'm thrilled to have the chance to create what we consider the most exhilarating turbocharged Mustang to date," expressed Vaughn Gittin, Jr., President and Founder of RTR. "This Mustang RTR is all about accessible excitement, featuring enhancements like components from the Mustang Dark Horse, the near-perfect weight distribution of the EcoBoost, and RTR's distinctive styling. It's primed for drifting, drag racing, scenic drives, or tearing up an autocross course. The new Mustang RTR is truly Ready to Rock."
Mustang RTR broadens the performance horizon for a wider audience, particularly appealing to newcomers eager to hit the track.
“Ford is equipping Mustang enthusiasts with everything they need for speed and excitement,” stated Mustang Brand Manager Joe Bellino. “With features like the Drift Brake, Line Lock, Mustang Unleashed, and the exciting new additions to Mustang RTR, Ford is committed to continuous innovation for the Mustang lineup.”
The Mustang RTR will be showcased at the 2025 Detroit Auto Show, sharing the spotlight with the Mustang GTD Spirit of America.
